What is Virtual Production?

Virtual production is a new way of creating films, tv, and other types of visual content. Instead of filming on physical sets, virtual production uses computer-generated environments and virtual cameras to capture the action. This allows filmmakers and directors to create any type of environment they want, whether it's a futuristic city, the inside of a store, a city park, or anything in between. The characters and actors are filmed in front a large LED wall with selected environments, and the computer-generated backgrounds can be manipulated later. This provides a level of control and flexibility that wasn't possible with traditional production methods.

As a hair and makeup artist, it's always exciting to take on new projects and push the boundaries of what's possible in the industry. Recently, I had the opportunity to work on a virtual production set for the first time and it was truly an incredible experience.

Virtual production has revolutionized the way we create content, and it's exciting to be a part of this new era of filmmaking. With VP, the possibilities are endless. We're not limited by physical locations, budgets, or even weather. Everything is done in a controlled environment, which means that we can create any type of look we want, and it's all captured in perfect lighting and clarity.

One of the biggest challenges I faced while working on this virtual production set was figuring out how to create realistic hair and makeup that would look good on camera. It's one thing to create a look in person, but it's another thing entirely to make it look good on a set.

I also had to learn how to work with the virtual camera and how to create the illusion of depth and movement in the virtual world. This was a completely new experience for me, but it was also incredibly rewarding. I loved being able to explore new techniques and push the boundaries of what's possible in hair and makeup.

Overall, working on a virtual production set for the first time was a truly unique and exciting experience. It's amazing to see how technology is changing the way we create content, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for virtual production. I am looking forward to working on more virtual production set in the future and continue to push the boundaries in this exciting new field.

stay well

Amanda
